Team Member Spotlight: Rick Aguilar

Welcome to the team! Rick Aguilar brings 30 years of construction experience to his Project Manager role for Derivi Castellanos Architects (DCA). His career has spanned all aspects of project and construction management across academic, healthcare, justice, transportation, wastewater and hospitality markets. Rick is highly motivated and prior to joining DCA, he operated his own construction management and support services firm. He excels with leadership, management and problem-solving skills and is a subject matter expert in cost estimating and Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, having provided these services for several years to the federal government.

As a team player, Rick feels it’s important to stop talking, listen and acknowledge that everyone has a say. He explains that giving the project team members the opportunity to speak their mind results in learning together and collaborating. He has achieved success in various types of project delivery methods, including Public Bid, Design-Build, Construction Manager At-Risk and Lease-Leaseback. His ability to always see the big picture has proven invaluable for guiding all phases of planning, estimating and building of construction projects. Rick is currently working on several critical projects for Stockton Unified School District, Pittsburg Unified School District and Golden Plains Unified School District.

Rick lives in the High Sierra, a mountain range in eastern California, and in his spare time he loves fishing, camping and hiking. But when it’s back to work, his main goal is to always finish projects on time and on budget. He looks forward to growing with DCA and helping to deliver high quality projects and a high level of customer service!
