We are pleased to announce that Andrea Gomez has joined the Derivi Castellanos Architects (DCA) team as a Job Captain! Andrea has 15 years of experience in the industry and enjoys using her skills in designing and creating 3D models to bring customers’ ideas and visions to life. She started her career in Colombia, where she grew up with family members in the industry and was inspired by all aspects of design and architecture. Andrea earned a degree in architecture from the Universidad Catolica de Colombia, Bogota, and became a licensed architect in 2002.
Andrea worked as a Resident Architect in Colombia until moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2010. Since that time, she has spent most of her career as an independent contractor, focusing on design and drafting of residential and commercial projects. One project that stands out in her career was her design work on the “Redstone Building” (formerly called The San Francisco Labor Temple), which is a historical landmark built in 1914. The project consisted of remodeling the building interior, including updating it to life safety standards, converting unused open spaces to offices and workable environments and adding a functional roof top terrace/deck.
Andrea lives in Morgan Hill with her husband and two cats. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends — she loves to hike, swim and go on drives to the coast. She also has a passion for traveling and discovering new places and cultures. Andrea and her husband try to visit somewhere different every year, whether it’s nearby or a far getaway.
Andrea is looking forward to being part of the DCA team. “This is a big opportunity for me,” she says.
Welcome, Andrea!
